Research Unit Summer Position (Lytton)

Job Opportunity: Research Assistant at NNTC

Position: Research Assistant
Location: NNTC offices, 1632 St. Georges Road, Lytton
Age Requirement: 15 years or older
Duration: 8 weeks (Starting anytime after June 1, 2024)
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation: $18-$20 per hour, less all statutory deductions

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Nlaka’pamux Land-Use and Occupancy interviews
  • Record and photograph meetings or events as needed
  • Organize historical, cultural documents, and administrative files
  • Transcribe audio and written records
  • Digitize and file new holdings to our library
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in Nlaka’pamux title and rights, and in the history of relationships between Indigenous Peoples and the federal and provincial governments
  • Good organizational, communication, and computer skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
